PP Exhaust Gas Scrubbers: Features, Benefits, and Applications

PP waste gas scrubber is a common industrial waste gas treatment equipment. It mainly purifies acid and alkali waste gas, dust and some water-soluble pollutants through spray absorption, filler contact and gas-liquid separation. The equipment can be configured with different spray levels, filler layers and absorbed liquid according to the exhaust gas composition, treatment air volume and emission requirements.
1. Main features of PP exhaust gas scrubber
1. Low operating resistance: Reasonable design of tower structure, packing layer and air flow channel can reduce system resistance and reduce fan operating load.
2. Acid-alkali and corrosion-resistant: The tower body is made of PP material and is suitable for processing a variety of corrosive acid-base waste gases.
3. Convenient combination and installation: The equipment can be modularly designed according to on-site space and processing requirements, making it easy to transport, install, inspect and maintain later.
4. Collaborative purification of spray and filler: the spray liquid evenly covers the surface of the filler, increases the gas-liquid contact area, and improves the absorption and neutralization effect of pollutants.
5. A variety of processing functions can be achieved: under suitable working conditions, exhaust gas cooling, dust pretreatment, acid and alkali gas absorption and partial odor reduction can be achieved simultaneously.
It should be noted that the PP scrubber is not suitable for treating all organic waste gases alone. For organic pollutants that are difficult to dissolve in water, such as benzene, ketones, and esters, they usually need to be used in combination with activated carbon adsorption, catalytic combustion, or other treatment equipment.
2. Application fields of PP waste gas scrubber
PP waste gas scrubber can be used in chemical industry, electroplating, pickling, electronics, printing, spraying, furniture manufacturing, sewage treatment and other production sites that produce acid-base waste gas, dust or odorous gas.
1. Acidic, alkaline and water-soluble waste gases generated during chemical production.
2. Acid mist and alkali mist generated during electroplating, pickling and etching processes.
3. Odorous gases produced by sewage tanks, sludge treatment and some deodorization systems.
4. Dust-containing or pungent-smelling waste gas that requires pretreatment during printing, spraying and furniture production processes.
5. Industrial waste gas that needs to be cooled, humidified or removed from large particles of dust.
3. Working principle of PP waste gas scrubbing tower
The waste gas enters from the lower part or side of the tower body, and passes through the spray area and packing layer under the action of the fan. The circulating water pump delivers the absorption liquid to the nozzle, which sprays the liquid into fine droplets to fully contact the exhaust gas with the absorption liquid.
Dust in the exhaust gas can be captured by droplets through inertial collision, interception and agglomeration; acidic or alkaline gases dissolve or neutralize in the absorbing liquid. Smaller particles gradually condense into larger particles after contacting the liquid droplets, and flow into the water tank with the circulating fluid.
The gas that has been sprayed and purified by the filler then passes through the demister layer to remove entrained water droplets, and finally enters the subsequent treatment equipment or discharge pipe through the air outlet. The circulating fluid is replenished, dosed, drained or replaced according to the nature of the pollutants.
IV. Inspection items before starting the equipment
1. Check whether the tower body, pipes, valves, flanges and inspection openings are intact and whether there is any looseness or leakage.
2. Check whether the liquid level in the circulating water tank meets the operating requirements.
3. Check whether the type, concentration and ratio of absorbent liquid chemicals meet the waste gas treatment requirements.
4. Check whether the nozzles, spray pipes and packing layers are blocked.
5. Check whether the wiring and steering of the fan, water pump and electrical control system are correct.
5. Correct startup and shutdown sequence
When starting the equipment, you should first turn on the circulating water pump to make the spray system operate stably, and observe whether the nozzles spray evenly. After confirming that the sprinkler system is normal, start the exhaust fan.
When the equipment is shut down, the exhaust fan should be turned off first, and then the circulating water pump should continue to run for a period of time to flush the inside of the tower, and then turn off the water pump and main power supply.
1. Start-up sequence: Check equipment → Start circulating water pump → Check spray status → Start fan.
2. Shutdown sequence: stop the exhaust gas source → turn off the fan → continue spraying and flushing → turn off the water pump.
VI. Precautions during equipment operation
1. Regularly check the circulating fluid level, pH value and chemical concentration, and promptly replenish or replace it if it does not meet the requirements.
2. Clean the nozzle, packing and demister layer regularly to prevent clogging and scaling.
3. Check the fan and water pump for abnormal noise, vibration, overheating or water leakage.
4. Check the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the equipment and the air volume, and stop the machine immediately if any abnormal resistance is found.
5. The equipment should be managed by dedicated personnel, and records of operation, dosing, sewage discharge and maintenance should be established.
7. Protection requirements for outdoor installation
When the PP exhaust gas scrubber is installed outdoors, the fan, water pump, motor and electric control box should be protected from rain, sun and moisture. The protective cover should avoid affecting the heat dissipation and daily maintenance of the equipment.
The fan air inlet, coupling, transmission part and other rotating parts should be equipped with protective devices to prevent foreign objects from entering or personnel from accidentally touching them. The equipment base and pipe supports should be installed firmly to avoid loose connections caused by long-term vibration.
When the exhaust gas contains flammable and explosive organic substances, a risk assessment should be conducted first, and corresponding explosion-proof fans, motors and electrical equipment should be selected according to the hazardous areas on site. The ordinary PP scrubber itself cannot be directly equivalent to a complete explosion-proof system.
