Why Mobile Dust Collectors Clog and How to Clean Them

During long-term operation of the mobile dust collector, problems such as reduced suction, increased filter resistance, or reduced air output may occur. The most common reason is that the filter bag or filter cartridge is clogged. Prompt identification of the cause of blockage and appropriate cleaning methods can help restore equipment performance and extend the life of filter components.

1. Common causes of blockage in mobile dust collectors

1. The filter bag is installed too loosely or too tightly: If the filter bag is too loose, it will easily produce wrinkles and accumulate dust, while if it is too tight, it may cause stretch deformation or local damage.

2. The setting of the cleaning cycle is unreasonable: too long a cleaning interval will cause dust to adhere to the filter surface for a long time. If the cleaning time is too long or the intensity is too high, the filter material may be damaged.

3. The filtration wind speed is too high: When the air volume processed by the equipment exceeds the design range, dust is more likely to compact on the surface of the filter bag, causing the system resistance to rise rapidly.

4. The dust is damp or contains sticky substances: When the equipment leaks, the ambient humidity is too high, or the dust contains sticky components such as oil mist and resin, it is easy to form agglomerates that are difficult to remove.

5. Improper selection of filter material: The filter material does not match the properties, temperature or chemical composition of the dust, and may shrink, harden, corrode or become clogged.

6. Aging or damage of the filter bag: After long-term use, the filter bag may have reduced air permeability, fiber aging, or surface damage.

7. Dust cleaning system failure: Abnormal pulse valves, solenoid valves, vibration devices or compressed air systems will cause dust to fail to fall off in time.

2. Inspection methods after clogging

When the suction power of the mobile dust collector decreases, the equipment resistance is abnormal, or the exhaust dust content increases, the equipment should be stopped and the filter components and dust cleaning system should be inspected.

1. Check whether there is a large amount of dust, agglomeration or oil on the surface of the filter bag or filter cartridge.

2. Check whether the filter bag is damaged, deformed, shrunk or not installed properly.

3. Check whether there is water leakage, condensation or dust moisture inside the equipment.

4. Check whether the pulse valve, solenoid valve, blow pipe and compressed air pressure are normal.

5. Check whether the fan air volume and filter air speed exceed the design range of the equipment.

6. Check whether the dust bucket, ash hopper and air inlet and outlet ducts are blocked.

3. Common cleaning methods for mobile dust collectors

1. Mechanical vibrating dust cleaning: The dust attached to the surface of the filter bag is shed through a vibration device, which is suitable for handling loose dry dust.

2. Pulse jet dust cleaning: Use compressed air to blow instantly to cause the filter bag or filter cartridge to expand and vibrate, thereby removing dust on the surface.

3. Compressed air blowing: After removing the filter component, low-pressure blowing can be performed from the clean surface to the dust-accumulating surface to avoid further pressing dust into the filter material.

4. Low-temperature water washing: only applicable to filter bags that explicitly support water washing. After cleaning, it should be dried thoroughly to confirm that there is no deformation or damage before installation and use.

5. Professional chemical cleaning: For oily or sticky dirt, cleaning agents compatible with the filter material can be used, but the chemical concentration, water temperature and soaking time should be strictly controlled.

4. Correct steps for filter bag cleaning

1. Stop the machine and cut off the power supply of the equipment, and confirm that the fan has stopped completely.

2. Before taking out the filter bag or filter cartridge, clean the dust inside the equipment and in the dust collection bucket.

3. Check the filter components for holes, open lines, deformation or aging.

4. Beat, purge or wash the reusable filter bags.

5. The washed filter bag should be dried naturally in a ventilated place. It is prohibited to reinstall it before drying.

6. Keep the filter bag flat during installation and avoid being too loose, too tight or wrinkled.

7. After restarting the equipment, check whether the air volume, resistance and exhaust status return to normal.

5. How to prevent the mobile dust collector from being clogged again

1. Set the cleaning cycle and cleaning intensity reasonably according to the nature of the dust.

2. Control the air volume of the equipment to avoid long-term overload operation.

3. Prevent equipment water leakage, condensation and wet dust from entering the filtration system.

4. Clean dust buckets, ash hoppers and vacuum ducts regularly.

5. Select appropriate filter materials based on dust temperature, humidity and corrosiveness.

6. Establish equipment inspection records, and deal with any abnormalities in resistance or air volume in a timely manner.

6. Whether the filter bag can continue to be used

After cleaning, the air permeability, dimensional stability and surface integrity of the filter bag should be checked. If the filter bag has been damaged in a large area, is obviously hardened, has shrunk severely, or cannot restore its air permeability after cleaning, it should be replaced in time and should not be used further.

Before cleaning the filter components, you should first confirm whether the filter material supports water washing or chemical cleaning. Equipment containing toxic, harmful, flammable or explosive dust should not be disassembled and cleaned by yourself. It should be professionally handled in accordance with the corresponding safety requirements.
