Operating Temperature and Airflow Selection for Explosion-Proof Dust Collectors

In the industrial production process, explosion-proof dust collectors are mainly used to collect and process dust with risks of combustion and explosion. Whether the equipment selection is reasonable will directly affect the dust removal effect, operating resistance, filter bag life and system safety. When selecting an explosion-proof dust collector, you should focus on the processing air volume, operating temperature, dust properties, operation mode and on-site installation conditions.
1. The processing air volume of the explosion-proof dust collector
The processing air volume refers to the volume of gas that the dust collector can purify per unit time. The common unit is m³/h or Nm³/h. Processing air volume is one of the important parameters in the design and selection of explosion-proof dust collectors.
When the equipment is operated for a long time in a state that exceeds the design air volume, the filtration wind speed will increase, which may easily cause filter bag clogging, increase system resistance, increase dust cleaning frequency and shorten filter bag life. In severe cases, it will also affect dust removal efficiency.
If the processing air volume of the selected equipment is significantly greater than the actual need, it may increase equipment cost, energy consumption and floor space. Therefore, the treatment air volume should be calculated comprehensively based on the number of dust-generating equipment, dust collection hood type, pipeline layout, simultaneous use coefficient and system air leakage volume.
1. The air volume is too small: the negative pressure at the dust suction point is insufficient, and the dust cannot be effectively captured.
2. Excessive air volume: the filtration load increases, equipment resistance and energy consumption increase.
3. Reasonable air volume: able to take into account dust collection effect, operating resistance and equipment cost.
2. Working temperature of explosion-proof dust collector
The allowable working temperature of explosion-proof dust collector mainly depends on the temperature resistance level of the filter material, dust properties, equipment materials, electrical components and the scope of application of the explosion-proof system.
The temperature resistance properties of different filter materials vary greatly, and the selection cannot be uniformly based on a certain temperature value. For example, ordinary polyester needle felt is suitable for normal temperature or medium and low temperature conditions, while aramid, PPS, P84 and glass fiber filter materials are suitable for different medium and high temperature environments.
In addition to preventing the temperature from exceeding the upper limit of the filter material, the flue gas temperature should also be prevented from falling below the dew point. Too low temperature may cause water vapor to condense, causing dust to become damp, agglomerated and adhere to the surface of the filter bag, causing the resistance of the paste bag and the system to increase.
1. The inlet temperature shall not exceed the maximum allowable operating temperature of the filter material and equipment.
2. The operating temperature should be higher than the flue gas dew point to avoid internal condensation.
3. Before the high-temperature flue gas enters the dust collector, a cooling, air mixing or heat exchange device should be installed.
4. For working conditions that may contain sparks or hot particles, spark capture or pre-separation devices should be installed.
3. What factors should be considered when purchasing Jiangsu explosion-proof dust collector
1. Continuous operation requirements: Confirm whether the equipment operates intermittently or continuously for 24 hours, and determine the fan, motor, dust cleaning system and filtration area accordingly.
2. Installation form: Determine whether the equipment should be installed in a fixed or mobile manner according to site conditions, and reserve space for maintenance, ash discharge, and filter bag replacement.
3. Dust properties: clarify the dust particle size, concentration, humidity, temperature, viscosity, corrosiveness and explosive characteristics.
4. Dry and wet working conditions: Ordinary bag dust collectors mainly deal with dry dust. For gases containing liquid, wet sticky dust or high humidity, suitable pretreatment or other dust removal methods should be used.
5. Equipment power: The fan power should be calculated based on the air volume, system resistance and pipeline conditions. It is not advisable to simply pursue high power.
6. Explosion-proof configuration: Antistatic filter bags, explosion venting, explosion-proof, explosion suppression, grounding and explosion-proof electrical configuration should be determined based on the dust explosion characteristics and on-site hazardous areas.
7. Operating costs: comprehensive consideration of equipment price, energy consumption, filter bag replacement frequency, compressed air consumption and maintenance costs.
8. After-sales service: Pay attention to whether the supplier can provide selection design, installation guidance, debugging, maintenance training and accessory supply.
IV. Parameters that need to be provided when selecting explosion-proof dust collectors
In order to improve the accuracy of equipment selection, users usually need to provide the following basic data when consulting or purchasing explosion-proof dust collectors:
1. Name, quantity and working method of dust-producing equipment.
2. Total treatment air volume and required air volume at each suction point.
3. Dust type, particle size, concentration and bulk density.
4. Data such as the lower explosion limit, minimum ignition energy and explosion index of dust.
5. Exhaust gas inlet temperature, humidity and whether there is a risk of condensation.
6. On-site power supply, air source, installation space and emission requirements.
7. Whether continuous operation, automatic dust cleaning, automatic dust discharge and remote control are required.
5. The relationship between the processing air volume and the filtration area
The filtration area of the explosion-proof dust collector is usually determined based on the processing air volume and filtration wind speed. Under the same air volume, the smaller the filtration area, the higher the filtration wind speed, and usually the greater the filter bag load and operating resistance; increasing the filtration area will help reduce the filtration wind speed, but the equipment volume and cost will also increase.
Therefore, the filtration area cannot simply pursue the bigger the better, but should be reasonably configured according to the dust characteristics, dust cleaning method, operating time and emission requirements.
6. Temperature and air volume management during equipment operation
1. Regularly monitor the equipment inlet temperature, outlet temperature and system pressure difference.
2. Avoid changes in production conditions causing the treatment air volume to exceed the design range for a long time.
3. When an abnormal increase in temperature is found, the process equipment and spark control device should be checked in time.
4. When it is found that the pressure difference continues to rise, the filter bag, dust cleaning system and dust should be checked for moisture.
5. It is not advisable to adjust the fan frequency, valve opening and dust cleaning parameters at will.
The explosion-proof dust collector is part of the dust explosion-proof system. Equipment selection cannot only consider air volume and temperature. The actual design should also take into account the dust explosion characteristics, explosion vent direction, explosion-proof measures, grounding system and on-site hazardous area level, and be completed by professionals with corresponding capabilities.
