How to Select a Venturi Wet Scrubber for Electronics Manufacturing

How to choose a Venturi wet dust collector suitable for the electronics industry
In the electronics manufacturing process, cutting, grinding, batching, cleaning, etching and some surface treatment processes may produce fine particles, acid-base mist and high-humidity waste gas. The Venturi wet dust collector uses high-speed airflow to fully contact the spray liquid, which can wet, collide, agglomerate and separate particles. It is suitable for some high-concentration dust and working conditions that require cooling, humidification or wet pretreatment.
The pollutant composition and treatment requirements of different electronic production lines vary greatly. Therefore, equipment selection should not only focus on dust removal efficiency, but also comprehensively consider exhaust gas composition, corrosiveness, system resistance, circulating fluid treatment, automatic control and maintenance costs.
1. Clarify the types of pollutants that need to be treated
Before choosing a Venturi wet dust collector, you should first confirm whether the main pollutants in the exhaust gas are dust, acid-base mist, water-soluble gases, or organic waste gas that is difficult to dissolve in water.
1. Fine particles: can be captured through the collision of high-speed airflow and droplets.
2. Acid-base mist: Corresponding absorption liquid can be configured according to the nature of the pollutants for neutralization treatment.
3. Water-soluble gas: The concentration of some pollutants can be reduced through spray absorption.
4. Insoluble VOCs: It is usually not suitable to rely solely on water washing, but should be combined with activated carbon adsorption, condensation recovery or other special processes.
2. Focus on particle capture efficiency
The particle size produced by some processes in the electronics industry is small. Therefore, the equipment should reasonably design the venturi throat speed, spray liquid volume and gas-liquid separation structure based on the dust particle size, concentration, density and hydrophilicity.
Generally speaking, the higher the throat speed, the more fully the droplets will be broken up, and the probability of collision between particles and droplets will also increase, but the system pressure drop and fan energy consumption will usually increase accordingly. Therefore, equipment design should strike a balance between processing efficiency and operating energy consumption.
3. Select equipment materials based on the corrosiveness of exhaust gas
Acid, alkali and other chemicals may be used in the electronic manufacturing process. Exhaust gas and circulating fluid are corrosive to the equipment. Equipment materials should be selected based on media composition, concentration, temperature and operating time.
1. PP material: suitable for processing a variety of acid and alkali waste gases at room temperature, with good corrosion resistance.
2. FRP material: suitable for some corrosive working conditions, with good structural strength and weather resistance.
3. Stainless steel material: suitable for some working conditions with high temperature, pressure resistance or high structural strength requirements.
Material selection should not only focus on the tower body, but also pay attention to contact parts such as nozzles, pipelines, water pumps, valves, flanges and fans.
4. Reasonable calculation of treatment air volume and system resistance
The treatment air volume should be calculated based on the number of dust-generating equipment, type of dust collection hood, pipe length, simultaneous use coefficient and system air leakage volume.
1. Too small air volume will lead to insufficient collection capacity of the dust suction point.
2. Excessive air volume will increase equipment size, system pressure drop and fan energy consumption.
3. The Venturi throat, gas-liquid separator and demister will all produce resistance, which should be calculated comprehensively when selecting the fan.
5. Assessing deodorization and organic waste gas treatment needs
The main function of the Venturi wet dust collector is to capture particulate matter and treat some absorbable gases, and is not equivalent to special deodorization equipment.
If the exhaust gas contains obvious odor or organic components that are difficult to dissolve in water, activated carbon adsorption, chemical washing, biological treatment or other suitable purification units can be added at the back end of the wet dust collector.
6. Pay attention to circulating fluid and wastewater treatment
Wet dust removal will transfer dust and some pollutants into the liquid phase, so the circulating water tank, sedimentation, filtration, water replenishment, sewage discharge and sludge disposal should be simultaneously considered when selecting equipment.
1. The capacity of the circulating water tank should match the spray volume and operating time.
2. For waste gas containing acid and alkali components, a pH monitoring and dosing system should be configured.
3. For working conditions with high particulate matter content, sedimentation or filtration devices should be installed.
4. Wastewater and sludge should be collected and treated according to the actual nature of pollutants.
7. Comprehensive assessment of operating costs
The operating costs of the Venturi wet dust collector mainly include fan energy consumption, water pump energy consumption, water replenishment, chemicals, sewage discharge, sludge treatment and equipment maintenance, etc.
Since the Venturi structure usually has a higher pressure drop, its fan energy consumption is not necessarily lower than that of ordinary wet or dry dust removal equipment. Therefore, a comprehensive comparison should be made based on actual processing efficiency, running time and subsequent processing requirements.
8. Choose a suitable automatic control system
For electronic production lines with high continuous operation or management requirements, an automatic control system can be configured to monitor fans, water pumps, liquid level, pressure difference, pH value and fault status.
1. Automatically control the start and stop sequence of fans and circulating water pumps.
2. Monitor the liquid level of the circulating water tank to prevent the water pump from running out of liquid.
3. Automatically replenish medicine according to pH value.
4. Monitor equipment pressure difference and spray status.
5. Alarm for abnormal liquid level, pump failure and fan failure.
9. Is the equipment maintenance convenient?
The equipment structure should facilitate the inspection and cleaning of nozzles, pipes, demisters and circulating water tanks. The location of the inspection opening, the disassembly method of the sprinkler pipe and the sewage discharge structure will all affect the subsequent maintenance costs.
1. The nozzle and spray pipe should be easy to disassemble and clean.
2. Pipes and high-flow areas should be easily inspected for wear.
3. The mist eliminator should be able to be cleaned or replaced regularly.
4. The circulating water tank should be equipped with sewage discharge, water replenishment and cleaning interfaces.
10. Recommended parameters before selection
1. Actual treatment air volume and daily operating time.
2. Types of pollutants, particle size and concentration.
3. Exhaust gas temperature, humidity and corrosiveness.
4. Does it contain acid-base mist, water-soluble gas or VOCs.
5. On-site installation space, interface direction and material requirements.
6. Discharge requirements and whether subsequent treatment equipment is required.
7. Circulating water, sewage discharge and sludge treatment conditions.
The Venturi wet dust collector is suitable for some fine particles, high concentration dust and waste gas that require wet pretreatment in the electronics industry, but it is not suitable for all electronic processes. For working conditions that require the recovery of dry powder, strict control of wastewater or the treatment of insoluble organic waste gas, a comprehensive selection should be combined with other dust removal and purification equipment.
