The EWSC Series Venturi Wet Dust Collector features reliable operation and easy maintenance. It mainly consists of a Venturi tube and a mist eliminator. The Venturi tube serves as the pretreatment section of the whole dust collector. Inside the mist eliminator, intense rotational motion generates centrifugal force, throwing soot and ash droplets toward the wall of the mist eliminator. Pollutants adhere to the water film on the wall and flow down into the lower ash hopper along with the water film.

EWSC Series Venturi Wet Dust Collector

The EWSC Series Venturi Wet Dust Collector is a reliable industrial wet scrubbing system designed for dust removal, gas cooling and the treatment of certain harmful gaseous pollutants. The system features stable operation, a relatively simple structure and convenient maintenance, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial exhaust gas treatment applications.

The equipment mainly consists of a Venturi tube and a droplet separator. The Venturi section serves as the primary dust collection and gas-liquid contact stage, while the droplet separator removes dust-laden water droplets from the treated gas stream.

Product Overview

The Venturi tube consists of a converging section, throat section, water spray system and diffuser section. As dust-laden gas passes through the converging section, its velocity increases rapidly and reaches a high level at the throat.

Water sprayed into the high-speed gas stream is broken into very fine droplets by the intense aerodynamic force. The resulting fine mist provides a large gas-liquid contact area, allowing dust particles to collide with and become captured by water droplets.

At the same time, the gas becomes highly saturated with moisture. The thin gas film surrounding the dust particles is disrupted, allowing the particles to become wetted more effectively and promoting particle agglomeration.

After treatment in the Venturi section, the gas containing enlarged dust-laden droplets enters the lower part of the droplet separator tangentially. Strong rotational airflow is generated inside the separator. Under centrifugal force, dust particles and water droplets are driven toward the inner wall, captured by the water film and carried downward into the collection section.

The purified gas then exits from the upper section of the droplet separator and is discharged through the induced draft fan and exhaust stack or transferred to subsequent exhaust gas treatment equipment.

Working Principle

The dust removal process of the EWSC Series Venturi Wet Dust Collector can generally be divided into three stages: atomization, agglomeration and gas-liquid separation. Atomization and agglomeration occur mainly inside the Venturi tube, while final gas-liquid separation takes place inside the droplet separator.

1. Gas Acceleration

Dust-laden gas enters the converging section through the inlet duct. As the cross-sectional area gradually decreases, the gas velocity increases continuously and reaches its maximum near the Venturi throat.

2. Water Atomization

Water is introduced into the high-speed airflow through spray nozzles. Due to the high relative velocity between the gas and liquid phases, the water droplets are broken into finer droplets by the airflow, significantly increasing the effective contact area between the gas and washing liquid.

3. Particle Wetting and Agglomeration

At the throat, the dust-laden gas and fine water droplets come into intensive contact. The air film surrounding the dust particles is disrupted, allowing the particles to become wetted. Through collision, interception and agglomeration, fine dust particles combine with water droplets and form larger dust-containing droplets.

4. Pressure Recovery and Droplet Growth

As the gas enters the diffuser section, its velocity gradually decreases and part of the pressure is recovered. Agglomeration continues in this section, allowing dust-containing droplets to grow larger and become easier to separate.

5. Gas-Liquid Separation

The enlarged dust-laden droplets then enter the droplet separator. Under the combined effects of centrifugal force and gravity, the droplets are separated from the gas stream and collected. The treated gas is discharged from the upper outlet, achieving both dust removal and gas cooling.

Main Treatment Process

  1. Dust-Laden Gas Intake: Contaminated gas enters the Venturi tube through the inlet duct.
  2. Gas Acceleration: The gas velocity increases rapidly through the converging section and reaches a high velocity at the throat.
  3. Water Spraying: Washing liquid is introduced into the high-speed airflow through the spray system.
  4. Atomization: Water droplets are broken into finer droplets by the high-speed gas stream.
  5. Dust Capture: Dust particles collide with, adhere to and become wetted by the fine water droplets.
  6. Agglomeration: Fine particles and water droplets combine to form larger dust-containing droplets.
  7. Centrifugal Separation: Dust-laden droplets enter the separator and are removed from the gas stream by centrifugal force.
  8. Liquid Collection: Separated dust and water flow downward into the collection section for subsequent treatment.
  9. Clean Gas Discharge: Purified gas is discharged through the upper outlet and induced draft fan.

Product Advantages

  • Dust Removal and Gas Cooling: Mass transfer and heat transfer occur simultaneously during gas-liquid contact, allowing the equipment to remove dust while reducing exhaust gas temperature.
  • Gas Absorption Capability: With suitable washing liquid, the system can also assist in absorbing certain soluble or chemically reactive gaseous pollutants.
  • Suitable for High-Temperature Gas: The wet scrubbing process can effectively cool high-temperature exhaust gas before subsequent treatment.
  • Suitable for Special Exhaust Conditions: The wet process can be applied to certain high-temperature, combustible or potentially explosive dust and gas streams when the system is properly engineered for the specific operating conditions.
  • High Gas-Liquid Contact Efficiency: High-speed airflow creates fine droplets and strong turbulent mixing, improving contact between dust particles and washing liquid.
  • Effective Fine Dust Agglomeration: Fine particles can be combined into larger dust-laden droplets, making them easier to separate.
  • Stable Air Handling Capacity: Proper system design provides stable exhaust gas treatment under continuous operating conditions.
  • Simple Structure: The Venturi configuration has a relatively straightforward internal structure.
  • Compact Footprint: The equipment requires relatively little installation space compared with some large-scale dust collection systems.
  • Convenient Operation: The system is designed for straightforward operation, inspection and routine maintenance.
  • Reliable Performance: The simple working mechanism contributes to stable industrial operation.

Main Components

Component Function
Converging Section Gradually accelerates the dust-laden gas before it enters the Venturi throat.
Venturi Throat Creates high gas velocity and intensive gas-liquid contact for particle capture.
Water Spray System Introduces washing liquid into the airflow and provides fine droplets for dust capture.
Diffuser Section Reduces gas velocity, recovers part of the pressure and promotes further droplet agglomeration.
Droplet Separator Separates dust-containing liquid droplets from the treated gas by centrifugal force.
Collection Section Collects dust-containing washing liquid for drainage, recycling or further wastewater treatment.
Gas Outlet Transfers treated gas to the exhaust fan, stack or downstream purification equipment.

Operating Considerations

As with other wet dust collection technologies, several operating factors should be considered when selecting and designing an EWSC Venturi Wet Dust Collector.

  • Wastewater Treatment: Dust-containing slurry and wastewater generated during operation should be properly collected and treated to avoid secondary pollution.
  • Corrosive Exhaust Gas: When corrosive gases are treated, corrosive components may be transferred into the washing liquid. Appropriate corrosion-resistant materials should therefore be selected for the equipment and wastewater system.
  • Dust Characteristics: Performance depends on particle wettability and other physical properties. Special evaluation may be required for strongly hydrophobic dust.
  • Sticky Dust: Highly adhesive contaminants may accumulate in ducts, separators or other internal components if the system is not properly designed and maintained.
  • Water Consumption: Compared with dry dust collection systems, wet scrubbers require a continuous supply or circulation of washing liquid.
  • Cold-Climate Protection: For installations in freezing environments, appropriate insulation, heating or antifreeze measures should be incorporated into the water circulation system.

Application Range

The EWSC Series Venturi Wet Dust Collector is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications involving dust, fumes, odors and selected acid or alkaline exhaust gases.
